Riley Owen Is Ready to Take Back Congress

Congress is breaking.

This may be a bold statement, but this recent article by the Wall Street Journal demonstrates a trend that should trouble any U.S. citizen:

Congress is doing less and less and the executive is doing more and more.

This is not the America our Founders designed.

They were fearful of an executive, who to them was a king, in fact the majority of the Declaration of Independence focuses on the unjust and unlawful action of a king. Because of this they intentionally designed the Congress to be the branch of government with the most strength, with the executive present to ensure that laws passed were implemented properly.

Now, the executive rules by executive order in cases where legislation has not been passed.

Regardless of the administration, this is not the America we want.

Riley has served in the White House and seen executive power wielded in crafting policy to achieve valuable and meaningful ends. However, at times, the question arose of whether or not this was the proper way in which these issues should be fixed.

Often, the answer was that Congress ought to have acted in this instance.

But, as the Wall Street Journal points out, the Congress currently is reluctant to act.

This may seem to be a dim moment, but the truth is that the American system is not too far gone.

It is possible to solve these issues.

That is why one of the pillars of the Riley Owen campaign for U.S. Congress focuses on “Curbing Career Politicians.” Through common-sense, widely supported solutions like term limits and age limits, it is possible to return the rightful power of governance to the group who ought to be wielding it: the elected representatives of the people.

We would love to hear your thoughts on this and any other issue! Message us here or on socials to learn more, and if you agree with what you hear join us in curbing career politicians!
